Animated films: pre-production
An essential phase before starting the production of an animated film
Pre-production is the essential preparation phase for the production of an animation film, whether it is in 3D or stop motion.
Pre-production consists of designing all the elements needed to produce the film. The screenwriting will develop the story scene by scene, defining the character’s features and settings from the directors initial idea.
From the script, a storyboard is created and shows a visual breakdown of each shot in the film. The artistic direction will determine the design of the characters and sets and more generally, the graphic style of the film and its colorful settings.
