2 MoPA films finalists for the Student Academy Awards!
MoPA, the renowned animation school, is once again proud to have two films by its 2023 graduates among this year’s finalists for the prestigious Student Academy Awards, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This adds to MoPA’s legacy, which already boasts three winning student films in past editions.
2,683 films submitted, 7 finalists, and 2 MoPA graduation films.
MoPA is the only French 3D animation school to have two of its graduates’ films in the prestigious shortlist of seven finalists in the animation category of the Student Academy Awards. These awards, granted by the Academy of Oscars, represent international recognition in the world of animation. Being a finalist alone is a major achievement, reflecting the high caliber of the students' work. Making the shortlist is an incredible accomplishment for students worldwide, even though they all dream of securing a spot on the podium.
Three MoPA student films have already claimed this honor: "Les Chaussures de Louis," "The Green Bird," and most recently, "La Diplomatie de l’Éclipse," which won the silver medal at the iconic 50th Student Academy Awards in 2023. This year, in 2024, we may see not one, but two MoPA films take home awards.
"Après Papi" and "Au Revoir Mon Monde"—two graduation short films from MoPA—are among the 2024 Student Academy Award finalists. These two incredible short films, with entirely different graphic styles and stories, were created by MoPA students who graduated in 2023. Since their release, the films have already achieved great success, collectively earning over 60 festival selections. Now, as finalists for the Student Academy Awards, our MoPA alumni are living the dream of thousands of aspiring filmmakers.
The winners will be announced soon, along with the date of the ceremony where the grand prize will be revealed. In the meantime, we invite you to (re)discover the trailers for "Après Papi" and "Au Revoir Mon Monde," as well as their making-of!
