"Après Papi" wins "Best Student Project" at SIGGRAPH!

SIGGRAPH is the world's largest event dedicated to computer graphics and interactive technologies. Bringing together professionals, artists, researchers, as well as students from around the globe, this event highlights and rewards the latest advancements, particularly from the animation industry. Several awards are given out, including the prestigious "Best Student Project", presented each year to the most outstanding project created by students from around the world. This award shines a spotlight on an innovative, creative project of exceptional technical quality.

For 2024, the MoPA 3D animation film school is proud to see the team behind the film "Après Papi", from the class of 2023, honored with this coveted award. It follows "La Diplomatie de l'Éclipse", which won the "Best in Show" award at the 2023 edition. This marks the sixth time that a film from MoPA’s animation students has been recognized by SIGGRAPH. The "Best Student Project" award highlights the mastery of all the components of an animated film by our young directors: concept art, character design, modeling, animation, lighting, and compositing. Additionally, this award underlines the artistic approach and creative vision of the film, acknowledging its potential impact on the animation industry.

For our young directors Swann VALENZA, Florian GOMES FREITAS, Juliette MICHEL, Victoria LEVIAUX, and Axel SENCE, winning the "Best Student Project" marks a turning point in their budding careers, offering them true international recognition and significant visibility, which could lead to incredible professional opportunities.

This award maintains MoPA’s international prestige, with recognition at one of the world’s largest festivals. MoPA is notably the only French animation film school to have been honored at the 2024 edition of SIGGRAPH.
