The MoPA School of Animation on top of the podium at the Student Academy Awards
This film, produced by Marion Philippe, Ka Yu Leung, Théo Jamin and Jean-Géraud Blanc, is the result of a collective effort spanning five years of study at the MoPA School of Animation in Arles, an institution recognised internationally as on of the best in the world.
The film “Louis’ Shoes” tells the tale of Louis, an eight-year-old boy who starts at a new school and introduces himself to his new classmates. It is a short film that sensitively addresses the issues of difference and integration through the important subject of autism. The film has already been selected for many festivals around the world, winning awards for its carefully thought-out script and its excellent images and animation.
“It’s a huge point of pride for the students but also for the entire educational body that supports the students with their projects. ” states Anne Brotot, Director of the MoPA school.
“The fact that our film has come all this way is incredible, and I'm still trying to process it” states Théo Jamin, one of the film’s co-producers.
“When we created Louis, we became really attached to the character, so much so we started to envisage him as our own son. Winning this prize, it’s like supporting our child towards their own successes. ” adds Marion Philippe, co-producer of the film.
This prize enables this film to be eligible for the 2022 Oscars®.
This film is the latest to be added to the MoPA students’ list of winners, along with the film “The Green Bird”, an MoPA final-year project produced in 2018 which was also awarded the gold medal at the Student Academy Awards, and the film “Garden Party” (MoPA 2016 promotional film) which was nominated for an Oscar in 2018!
